What Peoria requires
Peoria keeps RVs, boats, campers and utility trailers out of public view: in an enclosed garage, or in the side or rear yard behind a solid fence or wall at least 6 feet high. There is a 24-hour allowance for loading, unloading or maintenance, and a one-time 72-hour permit you can get up to four times a year.
The City also notes that its codes do not override stricter HOA rules, so a city permit does not help where the HOA says no.
| Rule | What it says | What it means for the pad |
|---|---|---|
| Where RVs, boats and trailers go | In an enclosed garage, or in the side or rear yard behind a solid 6 ft fence | The pad goes behind the fence line |
| Screening | RVs and utility trailers in a side or rear yard screened by a fence or wall at least 6 ft high | Plan the gate and fence with the pad |
| Loading and unloading | A 24-hour period for loading, unloading or maintenance before it must be out of public view | Short-term only on the driveway |
| Temporary permit | One 72-hour permit at a time, not more than one per 14 days and four per year | Useful for trip prep, not storage |

Peoria City Code Sec. 14-110 and 14-111, and Peoria Code Compliance. HOA rules can be stricter and are not overridden by a city permit.
Planning the pad around the fence
Because the fence is the rule, the pad and the gate are planned together. The pad runs from a gate wide enough for the rig to a spot fully behind the fence line, sloped away from the house.
Peoria has older homes near the historic center, many with carports and original slabs, and large newer lots in the north where toy haulers and fifth wheels are common. Older carport slabs that have cracked are a frequent replacement job.
