Concrete Pad Service Area: Phoenix Metro, AZ

Phoenix and nine Valley cities around it. The concrete is the same everywhere; the parking rules, lot sizes and HOA expectations are not. Here is what changes from one city to the next.

Cities with their own page

Each city page covers that city's parking-surface and RV rules, its typical lots, and what that means for the pad. Phoenix itself is covered on the home page.

How the rules compare

A ground-level slab rarely needs a building permit; where you can park on it is what varies.

Service area: frequently asked questions

Which areas do you cover?

Phoenix and the Valley cities around it in Maricopa County: Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear and Surprise each have their own page. If you are unsure, send the form with your cross streets.

Do the pad rules change from city to city?

The building permit exemption for ground-level slabs is similar across the Valley, but RV and vehicle parking rules differ. Phoenix requires front and side yard parking to be dust-free, Mesa spells out concrete, asphalt or bordered crushed rock, and Gilbert focuses on setbacks and screening. Each city page quotes its own rules.

What about HOA communities?

Your HOA's rules apply on top of the city's and are often stricter about RV parking, screening and side-yard changes. Get written approval before the pour.

Is unincorporated Maricopa County covered?

Often, yes, when the property is inside the same working radius. Permits and rules there come from Maricopa County rather than a city, so mention it in the form.
